eMarketer - Online Ads Dip in 2009, Growth to Follow
eMarketer revised its US online ad spending forecast today, reflecting the carnage from the now-hopefully-ebbing global recession. Drawing on reports from the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers, eMarketer now notes that online ad spending dipped by 5.3%.
The online ad industry now exceeds $20 billion annually in the United States, and eMarketer is now forecasting that the digital industry will only slide about 2.9% overall by the end of 2009. The company also forecasts moderate growth in 2010-2011, with the industry returning to double digit growth in 2012, partially due to an expected onslaught of ads from presidential candidates.
